5 Tips to Help You Buy the Right Pressure Gauge – Pressure Gauge Buyer’s Guide

If you are buying a pressure gauge for the first time, this article may help you. This article mainly introduces you how to choose a suitable pressure gauge from five aspects: range, pressure gauge connection, pressure gauge kit, Bourdon tube pressure gauge and digital pressure gauge.

1 – Range of Pressure Gauge

Your first request is to specify the range in psi (pounds per square inch) or in Bar. One bar is 14.504 pounds per square inch. You may also find “scale” metric pressure gauges in kilopascals (or kilopascals), where Pascals (Pa) is the SI metric unit of pressure measurement. 100 kilopascals equals 1 bar.

2 – Connect Easily

The standard connection size in the United Kingdom is BSP male, which uses copper or other sealing gaskets to seal on the nose. G1/8 is usually used for air pressure gauges, while G1/4, G3/8 or G1/2 are common on hydraulic pressure gauges. Double-check which connections are suitable for what size and scope. G1/4 on a 100mm pressure gauge will be special, and even on 100mm, neither G3/8 nor G1/2 can provide certain pressures. The adapter is available, but it may be clumsy. American hydraulic pressure gauges will always be NPT, that is, taper thread. In Europe, you will find BSP “gas” connections and metric threads.

If you need to remove the pressure gauge for recalibration, it is easy. On lower connected pressure gauges, you also need to be able to easily adjust the orientation of the face so that it can be seen. We seek easy disassembly, simple orientation and auxiliary exit.

3 – Easy to Find the “Kit”

The hydraulic instrument kit is perfect for the right application. You can install pressure gauges and test hoses and joints in a neat suitcase such as DPG or Sinocmp. This may just be work on a large site, or you need to work between multiple test points or connectors, checking the pressure on each test point or connector.

4 – Why Not Electronic?

Why don’t we say “use electronic hydraulic pressure gauge” to simplify the whole discussion? Bourdon tube “old-style” hydraulic pressure gauges are still deeply rooted. why? Is this strange in the tech world? Low technology still trumps devices with batteries, and it will continue to do so in our world. Yes, electronic measurement is huge in the field of control and instrumentation, and pressure reading is only a parameter to be monitored in a complex system. For low-tech, low-cost, and always visible pressure monitoring, we believe that traditional hydraulic pressure gauges still have a long service life.

5 – Why Electronic ?

The digital pressure gauge has the characteristics of high accuracy, fast response time and precise instrument. It is widely used in petroleum, chemical, electric power and other fields. The digital pressure gauge adopts a battery long-term power supply, no external power supply is needed, and it is easy to install and use. However, the price of digital pressure gauges is higher than that of general pressure gauges. Because the production cost of the digital pressure gauge is higher, and the test pressure value is simpler and more intuitive than the hydraulic pressure gauge. You can choose according to your actual situation.
